SEVA
What is seva?
Seva means selfless service to your fellow beings or to mankind in general. Baba says "Service to man is service to God." When one serves another, he is serving God in him and He recommends that in this Kali Yuga, service is the best path to self-realisation. Not only that one expects nothing in return, but there should be no trace of expectation of any kind in the future. Service should be performed with humility only to those who need it and at a time when they need it - only then can it be termed selfless. To be truly on the spiritual path one should do service on a regular basis and if possible, at least 4 hours per week should be devoted. Seva should be done with love and true spirit, carrying feelings to serve welling up from inside one's heart. While serving we should not consider that we are helping others but rather the proper attitude is to think that God is giving us an opportunity to serve by presenting 'others' to us. Only when service is performed in this spirit, that it can be of greatest benefit for our progress along the spiritual journey.
